Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV which was based in Washington DC (then WTOP). In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips with the President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
